Designing with dark finishes without losing warmth.

Designing with dark finishes without losing warmth.

A dark room does not have to feel heavy. The difference is in texture, light and the warmth of the materials you pair together.

When clients ask us for a moody bedroom or a black kitchen, the first worry is always the same: will it feel like a cave? It will not, as long as the room is built in layers. Colour sets the mood, but material and light decide how the space actually feels at nine o’clock on a winter evening.

Start with texture, not colour.

Fluted panels throw thin lines of shadow, veined stone catches highlights, and leather softens everything around it. Put the three together and a dark wall stops reading as flat colour and starts reading as craftsmanship.

Luxury should come from restraint and detail, not decoration.

Let the light do the work.

  • Warm LED strips behind panels and shelves
  • Pendants at eye level for intimacy
  • Dimmable layers for day and evening

Thinking about going darker in your own home? Bring a photo of the room to the showroom and we will walk you through the panels, stone and lighting in person.
